It does add some new features, like settlement building and weapon modifications, and it looks better than Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas' last-generation engine did, but at heart it's the same Fallout we've been seeing for years. An excellent old hat, but an old one, nonetheless. It was also the last huge change for the series, since Fallout 4 ($59.99 on PC, PlayStation 4 ($306.98 at Amazon UK), and Xbox One) feels like old hat. When Bethesda Softworks took over the Fallout series for Fallout 3 and transitioned the game from turn-based overhead RPG to first-person real-time RPG, it was a huge change that ended up working very well. Since the third installment, the series that made that phrase popular hasn't changed much, either.
